A Christian home does not just happen, it is built. John 4:24, “God is Spirit, and His worshippers must worship in spirit and in truth.”
This means, to build a Christian home, we have to create a spiritual atmosphere. How do we create a spiritual atmosphere? We create a spiritual atmosphere by praying and fasting in the power of the Holy Spirit. What do I mean by a spiritual atmosphere? A spiritual atmosphere is an environment that is not meant for the carnally minded. A spiritual atmosphere means an atmosphere of belief, an atmosphere of love, an atmosphere of faith, an atmosphere of justice.
In a spiritual atmosphere, the things of the flesh do not count; I mean, count for nothing. Carnal things do not count. Physical possessions do not count. The Bible says the carnally minded are controlled by their natural desires because they do not have the Spirit.
To build a Christian home therefore, the Bible says, we should keep on building ourselves up in faith. We should pray in the power of the Holy Spirit and keep ourselves in the love of God. We should have mercy for those who do not share the same faith with us. For example, where you live – it may be that your next door neighbour does not share the same faith with you. The Bible says that we should show mercy, love and tolerance for them, but hate the sin in them. I mean injustice, hatred, unfaithfulness, pride and the like.
